I have been focused on painting lately and my etching press has been sitting neglected and lonely. I was thinking about the Bonham Creative Arts Center’s August theme of “Black and White” when inspiration struck. I would put my painting aside for a bit and make a collagraph. But not just any collagraph. It would be interactive and collaborative. I’ve made 25 small collagraphs of various sizes mounted on cardboard of various thicknesses and finished off with magnets on the back. The piece will be displayed on a magnetic white board and visitors to the August exhibit will be encouraged to rearrange the bits in any configuration they desire. One piece will, over the month it is exhibited, become any number of pieces.
