Fall Meadow

As this painting began to resolve, it brought to mind fall walks in the meadow behind our house.  I have always loved fall, the crisp air offering a respite from the relentless summer heat, and the warm colors hopeful in a way that the cheery colors of spring, though lovely in their own right, lack.  With the early sunset painting the sky and the foreground passing into the violet of evening, the beauty of the fallow meadow with its stalks of drying grass speaks to me of comfort and security as the shorter days and blustery cold winds of winter approach.

The surface of the painting is sealed with a layer of buffed cold wax. The sides of the cradled board are waxed, and the board is wired and ready to hang.  The board is designed to accommodate a floating frame, but no frame is necessary.
