Primordial Soup

It is often a mystery to me how the titles to my work emerge.  I work intuitively, playfully, pushing evaluation and assessment away as long as possible.  At some point, it becomes clear to me that it is time to bring the piece home and my decisions become more intentional, more based in principles of design.  The changes to the piece become more incremental rather than sweeping.  At some point during this finishing process, a title asserts itself.  I can only assume that beneath my thoughtful mind is a consciousness that is very bit as real and active as my intellect.  I often wonder how we would characterize thinking if we never learned to talk.  

In any case, this piece became Primordial Soup.

Original abstract art by artist Wanda Oliver done in oil paint and cold wax medium on cradled board, 24x24x1.5", December, 2025.  Wanda is known for her use of harmonious color, lyrical lines, and rich layered surfaces.

The painting is sealed with a layer of buffed cold wax. The sides of the cradled board are waxed, and the board is wired and ready to hang.  The board is designed to accommodate a floating frame, but no frame is necessary.
