Foothold, #28
$3850.00
A pale, luminous field of cream and buttery yellow fills the upper half of the canvas, broken by drifts of turquoise, cerulean, and soft violet that read like weather moving through an open sky. Hints of red and rose gather at the edges, as if the picture were warmed by light or memory pressing in from outside the frame.
Below, a rolling band of periwinkle and lavender rises into a gentle ridge, then gives way to a deep, saturated violet that anchors the bottom third. The layers have been built up and scraped back, so the darker purples show through the lighter passages like ground beneath frost or snow. Along the horizon, thin vertical marks suggest reeds, fence posts, or distant trees, quiet signs of a landscape that is felt more than shown. By Texas abstract painter Wanda Oliver.
