A warm ivory and ochre ground carries bold structural forms in deep black and dark purple — a diagonal striped band ascending the right edge like a fragment of fence or trellis, heavy angular column forms anchoring the left, and a dense field of purple calligraphic loops, fine sgraffito lines, and circular marks throughout. The surface holds the tension between built structure and intuitive inscription, between what is constructed and what is written. In oil and cold wax. Part of the Soundings series by Texas abstract painter Wanda Oliver.
Series: Soundings
Medium/Material: Collage, oil paint, and cold wax medium on Stonehenge oil paper and then mounted on a cradled board
